How to find an amateur boxing bout in the UK

This checklist is for club coaches arranging competitive amateur bouts in the UK. Always follow your own national governing body and regional association rules — BoutMatrix does not approve bouts.

1. Prepare your own boxer first

Before you search, confirm the boxer is available, medically eligible under your club process, and entered with accurate weight, age, and experience. Incomplete profiles create false matches and wasted messages.

2. Search for suitable opponents

Filter by the factors that matter for fairness: age band, weight range, experience, and geography you are willing to travel. Use your association network as well as tools like BoutMatrix Find Match / Find a Bout when you need options beyond your usual contacts.

3. Contact the other club clearly

Send a short message with boxer name, age, weight, experience, preferred dates or shows, and your club contact. Ask about their medical/availability status and travel limits. WhatsApp and phone remain common in UK amateur boxing when clubs share those details.

4. Confirm the bout properly

Agree weight, venue, date, and any show entry requirements. Double-check eligibility and safeguarding for juniors. Only then treat the bout as confirmed. Keep a written note of what both clubs agreed.

5. After the bout

Update records, medical notes where required, and availability. Accurate history makes the next search faster and safer for both clubs.
